As the Snake catcher in Melbourne, Australia, I am on call 24/7 for most of the year. In real terms this means from September through to April, I must be ready to drop everything to rush somewhere to catch a highly venomous snake before it bites someone, or in turn someone bites it.
Having been catching snakes for over 50 years, I am the best known snake catcher in Australia, and probably the world. Part of this stems not just from my snake handler and snake relocation work, but also as a leading scientist at the crest of the wave of scientific discovery.
I have discovered and named hundreds of species of snake and lizard worldwide, as well as species of mammals, fish, frogs and crocodiles, making my reach way beyond just snakes and across most of the biological sciences.
So what do you do when you see a snake on your property?
Well you do not have to always call a snake catcher.
Usually, if you leave it alone, the snake will move on before you can say, Snakeman to the rescue.
